Surgery

As pet owners ourselves, we know how difficult it can be to hear that your pet needs surgery. But when surgery is called for, you can rely on Campbell Park Animal Hospital with complete confidence. We will make sure you understand the reason for the surgery, the procedure and anesthesia involved, and all the details of recovery. We are here for you every step of the way.

We provide a wide variety of surgical services at our hospital including routine spay and neuters, soft-tissue, and orthopedic surgeries. Your pet’s care, not our own agenda, is of the utmost importance. That’s why we do not hesitate to refer patients to board-certified veterinary surgeons at specialty facilities if necessary to perform more complex operations.

Our advanced surgical equipment includes:
  • Radio-surgical unit, allowing for little or no bleeding during surgery
  • Pulse oximeter monitor
  • Electrocardiology monitor
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Heated surgical table
  • Sevoflurane/Isoflurane anesthesia
  • Capnography
Anesthesia

At Campbell Park Animal Hospital, we provide the safest surgical/anesthetic experience possible. All of our surgical patients have an IV catheter placed which provides venous access to administer IV fluids and medications quickly should the need arise. We also utilize electronic monitoring (blood pressure, pulse oximetry, EKG, capnography) as well as having a veterinary technician manually monitoring your pet through their entire procedure and recovery. The more information our doctors have about the animal before and during a procedure, the lower the risk for complications. Consequently, our doctors recommend pre-surgical blood chemistry with CBC (complete blood count) before any anesthetic procedure to screen for health problems that may affect your pet’s ability to safely undergo anesthesia.
